I’m not usually one to boast or gloat, but I recently undertook a small SEO task on behalf of a client as their existing Web site was simply not performing in search engines.

Although the search terms I had success in where fairly specific, the competition in the area that the client is targetting is quite fierce, so for them to get this upper hand is going to stand them in good stead.

Their web site, www.greenleisure.com, could not even be found on the first few pages of Google for the search term “Green Leisure”, which is vital.

I asked my client to provide me with a list of keywords and search terms that she felt her clients would type in to find her company or the services her company provide, here is what I was given:

Keywords: Horsebox, Trailers, Racetrucks, Camper Vans.

Phrases: Mobile specialist vehicles, vehicle conversions, horsebox refurbishment and repairs, exhibition vehicles, promotional trailers, horsebox mot service and repairs, horsebox sales and part exchange, mobile specialist vehicle engineers and fabrication.

Target Towns: Banbury, Leamington Spa, Wellesbourne, Stratford Upon Avon, Warwick, Shipston on Stour, Chipping Norton.

Counties: Oxfordshire, Warwickshire, Northamptonshire (South, close to Banbury!).

District: Midlands.

This list was provided to me on the 27th November 2007, little more than two weeks ago to the day but I didn’t actually commence and complete the work until December the 5th – just over nine days ago.

I knew getting the site top for ALL those search terms and phrases for all those regions was going to be very difficult, but I could at least try.

A selection of random results, not cherry picked, but chosen by random:

• Horsebox Leamington Spa: Number 5
• Horsebox Banbury: Number 3
• Horsebox Oxfordshire: Number 4
• Horsebox repairs Oxfordshire: Number 2
• Trailer repairs Oxfordshire: Number 13
• Trailer repairs Banbury: Number 2
• Race Trucks Oxfordshire: Number 1
• Camper Vans Banbury: Number 21

This long list goes on and on, I haven’t tested for every search term or phrase in every target area, but I can tell you that this result was completely unexpected, although I’m not complaining, it does go to show that my methods are working!

Aside from one or two results on the list above, the client *should* find their traffic and enquiries increasing soon enough, and I have one more satisfied client to add to my list!

Time for a cup of tea out of the trophy methinks.
